Well for those of you that remember the "good old days" of live music
and fun in East Anglia in the eighties, you will remember Ricky James.
Ricky now resident in Spain has been on the Skype to let me know he is
again on his annual pilgrimage to Blighty and hopefully here in Pembroke
Dock, so keep you eyes peeled for the "old revival gigs" dates....he
is saving for his old age!, We here will try and keep you in the
picture. So how about the rest of the oldies from the eighties "where
are you now" The eccentric and talented, in his own way "CHAD" and
Friends. Many a great night in the Pubs, Restaurants and Hotels of East
Anglia...with his own compositions such as "The Landlord Song" dedicated
to Helen at the then Village Inn..."Drunken Bum's" a Spread Eagle
special. and who could not forget the regular spot with Keith Skipper on
BBC Radio Norfolk . And we cant forget......or can we..... Rumpole
Gibley Bason + The Gibson's, Freddie Arnold, David Christian, Roger
Hamilton, Nicky Walker, and many many more The last I saw many of
the local acts was in my hotel in Felixstowe in the late 80s If you know
where they are why not leave a message via my contacts page.

Ricky over
there in Salo.........
The............Frog.gif)
A frog goes into a bank and approaches the teller. He can see from her
nameplate that her name is Patricia Whack.
"Miss Whack, I'd like to get a $30,000 loan to take a holiday."
Patty looks at the frog in disbelief and asks his name. The frog says
his
name is Kermit Jagger, his dad is Mick Jagger, and that it's okay, he
knows
the bank manager.
Patty explains that he will need to secure the loan with some
collateral.
The frog says, "Sure. I have this," and produces a tiny porcelain
elephant,
about an inch tall, bright pink and perfectly formed.
Very confused, Patty explains that she'll have to consult with the bank
manager and disappears into a back office.
She finds the manager and says, " There's a frog called Kermit Jagger
out
there who claims to know you and wants to borrow $30,000, and he wants
to
use this as collateral."
She holds up the tiny pink elephant. "I mean, what in the world is
this?"
(you're gonna love this)
The bank manager looks back at her and says...
"It's a knickknack, Patty Whack. Give the frog a loan, His old man's a
Rolling Stone."
You're singing it, aren't you? Yeah, I know you are........)
Never take life too seriously!
Come on now, you grinned, I know you did!!!
Have a lovely day

From the
Forum......
A Mardling word from the editor.
We start in the words of one of our modern day historians; “The first four
houses in Front Street were ready by Michaelmas, 1814. These, it is said, were
three homes for yard officials, and one public house.) . So what next for this
non-aged but historic street, ok we all know the new marina’s coming. But with
the restraints of the planners and the way things are going in the high flying
world of finance, it won’t be tomorrow.
So why this lilt into the editorial, well on one of the cottages in this the
first street of buildings here in old Pembroke Dock is a “notice of planning
consent” thingy, to covert a little cottage into “two” yes 2 flats. So what next
a “fish and chip bar”!, a multiplex cinema etc. I have no real opinion on if or
what should be or not be the future of this fine Town. But please remember how
much cash going into preserving the heritage of Pembroke Dock to preserve its
heritage which maybe should not only be reserved for just the big things,
example second world war hangers, 1900,s barracks and all the wonderful historic
buildings in and around the Royal Dock Yard, but also maybe allowing the
preservation of the first houses in Doc Penfro, as an ongoing
statement of what is good and great in the history of Pembroke Dock.
PS
How due you get off street parking here then, to comply with the latest planning
criteria?

Rain outside not that dry inside, I know story of my life. Today the
first stages of the re-development of the Web Project begins ready for the
change not only of some of the hardware, operating systems but the web
production software to boot. Will this frail ageing brrain cope, keep an eye on
the site and wee shall see......
Received this { Going up and Down
(Suggest Save NOT Open) } from Mike at the Yacht Club the other day...
dispatched to some of you by e--mail but for those not on the list try
this link . Have fun
9th October 2007
Got this this morning thought it worth a share around.......thanks Mike
The knock-on effect from
the US sub-prime fiasco is being severely
felt in the Japanese market and shows no
sign of letting up. In the
last 7 days Origami Bank
has folded, Sumo Bank has gone belly up and
Bonsai Bank has announced plans to cut back
some of its
branches.
Yesterday it was
announced that Karaoke Bank is up for sale
and more than likely will go for a song.
Today shares in Kamikaze
Bank were suspended after they nose- dived
and 500 back-office staff at Karate Bank
also got the chop.
Analysts report that
there is something fishy going on at Sushi
bank and staff fear they may get a raw deal.
October 3rd 2007
I would as is my want like to be of good cheer....but alas a bad few weeks
here in the borough for one or two of use.....with visits to our friends at
Withybush and the worst, on Friday last poor old Katec left us and today we
especially remember Dad.....But life goes on or so they say. So its onward and
hopefully upward. they do say there is only one way and that's UP ......when you
get like we feel, near the very bottom......... Anyway........The Fireworks were
a blast and are now featured on the Community Site thanks to some wizardry and
You Tube........
Good old lad Ear today.........nunquam
non memor .

September 24 2007 Ferry and
Fireworks
So just one week before the bangs and flashes of the national Fireworks
Competition right here on our doorstep in Pembroke Dock......so if you are
coming to see it try not to cause to much hassle on my Street.....you will get a
good view from Western Way , where you will also find a fair and refreshments.
and as from these pictures it would seem the captain of the Isle of Inishmore
wanted to have a nice close look....If you
were a little late landing on the 24th September 2007 it might be because the
Isle of Inishmore wanted to have a nice close look at the old railway pier and
check out the site of the new marina to see if they could clean the windows on
the apartments from the ship....aground maybe...lets say the house was vibrating
from the power being applied to get her to go backwards and the water
foamed...this is a current record for us here....very close shave......I can
report after about 15 minutes of frantic full reverse power she slipped onto the
ferry terminal.....enough excitement for today me thinks
September 19th 2007
Nice and bright again here in West
Wales. The odd things seem to be happening all round...an Albatross sighted from
the ferry to Roeselare from Fishguard, and now the Isle of Inishmore returns to
the Dock just over an hour after she left....and only stayed 20minitues or
so....we will solve this mystery. We were also pleased to see the new ferry is
now in dock for refit etc before entering service in December 2007.... lets hope
it comes here when the Inishmore goes for her annual refit....

September 10th 2007
An interesting couple of weeks....my thanks to the guys and gals at Withybush
General Hospital....on the mend again, I hope.
So watch out we are about again......had some great shots sent to the web
project from a reader...taken from the Ferry leaving Pembroke Dock....they can
bee seen on
Ships Visits....here is a taste if you look closely you can just spot
our modest residence.......................↓
